WOODBURY, N.J. (AP) — Gloucester County authorities have charged a woman with child endangerment stemming from the death of her 2-year-old nephew.
Authorities say Felicia Tucker was looking after the boy when he left the Monroe Township home that she shared with his family and ended up in a nearby lake on Aug. 1.
Tucker called police after finding the front door open and the boy missing.
Tucker and a friend found the boy in the lake. He was pronounced dead at a hospital after nearly two hours on a respirator.
Prosecutors say the 26-year-old endangered the toddler by allowing him to leave the home and drown.
Tucker was released on her own recognizance.
It’s not known if she has hired an attorney.
