We all know Paris is the fashion capital of the world, Milan comes in a close second, and then there’s New York, London and Tokyo. But, this week Philadelphia embraces its inner Phashionista (pardon the pun) with the 2nd Annual Philadelphia Fashion Week!

I know what you’re thinking. Philly isn’t known for fashion, so the event will probably be a second rate version of international couture.

Well, before you bet your Louboutins against this event, give it a chance. Not only will the four day runway show feature designers from all over the world, (New York, London, Russia, Peru, Italy, just to name a few…) it will also host some of Philly’s top talent.

Remember Kristin Haskin Simms from Project Runway? Her collection hits the catwalk this Saturday.

Then, there’s Carmelita Couture, an Old City boutique bursting with star power! Her line hits the runway on Wednesday. (Did you know Carmelita’s designs are a fixture on the red carpet? She’s dressed everyone from the cast of Law & Order to Kourtney Kardashian and Tila Tequila.)

*Here’s a quick peak inside her store — and a preview of her current line!*

In full disclosure, I do have a vested interest in the event this year. (I’m the emcee for the launch Wednesday night!) But, I’m also a fan of fashion and Philly. So, I’m thrilled to see the two come together for this fabulous four day event!
