At some point, using the clippers at home just won’t cut it any more. The Philadelphia area has an abundance of barber shops and salons offering haircuts, but not all have stylists who go above and beyond the basics. These are the best spots for men’s haircuts in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia native Jahmal Rhaney builds relationships with the men who visit 2B Groomed, offering up great haircuts and shaves is an extension of that relationship. He strives for excellence in what he calls “transformations.” And it’s not just the locals who’ve noticed his skills; he and his shop were recognized nationally by USA Today, Maxim and Playboy. Rhaney opened this luxurious men’s barbershop in Center City in 2003.

The stylists at Crimson Hair Studio are known for their ladies’ cuts and color, but Laura Edmonds’ attention to detail helps create short cuts men adore. She educates herself on the latest trends, but continues to love the looks of the ’50s and ’20s, too. Edmonds gets to know her clients’ hair, making sure each gets a cut customized for his needs. This Rittenhouse Square salon with a Vegas vibe opened in 2011.

People drive up to a half hour to get their hair cut by John Scioli. He’s a classically trained barber, and every men’s haircut comes with a hot-lather, straight-razor neck shave.
