Philadelphia is fast — and finally — becoming known for fashion, thanks to a slew of hip places throughout town where you can find clothes to wear while strolling the city streets, dining in fab restaurants or dancing in the hottest clubs. Unfortunately, dressing for the office is another story. For those not in the know, here's where to shop for the best designers and discounts when it comes to apparel for work.

Boyds is also tops when it comes to customer service, offering niceties like complementary valet parking, made-to-measure tailoring from an array of fine fabrics for your individual fit, and personal shopping with their expert fashion consultants. You can also receive special Boyds shopping access, and consultants will come directly to your home or office.

If Boyds is the granddaddy of Philly boutiques, then Joan Shepp is the grande dame. In business since 1971, this designer heaven is the jewel of Rittenhouse Square -- shopping here is a unique and exhilarating experience. Shepp clients are not just treated like shoppers but family. Both sexes will find a mix of luxury items that fall at various price points from an eclectic mix of designers like Dries Van Noten, Junya Wantanabe, Y-3 Men's, Ann Demeulemeester, Rick Owens and more.

Joan Shepp's creative sales team, most of whom have been with the company for years, has an enormous wealth of knowledge when it comes to fashion and will gladly provide one-on-one styling consultations. You can shop here with confidence, as Joan Shepp has also been awarded a Harper's Bazaar "Style Leader" in 2004, 2005 and 2006; been voted top ten boutiques in the U.S. by Lucky Magazine in 2007; and Philadelphia Magazine presented them with "Best of Philly" in 2007 for shoes.

Philadelphia, PA 19107
(866) 219-2196

While Kembrel has other locations as well as an online presence selling apparel and accessories for men and women, it's their newest men's-only location in Midtown Village that's been causing quite a stir. Created specifically for the fellas, this is the perfect shop for hipsters starting in the workforce or those working in a more creative atmosphere like advertising or design.

Kembrel has clothing, shoes and accessories from independent and established designers such as Original Penguin, Fred Perry, Arsni, Hey Dude and Life After Denim. For men who are clueless when it comes to fashion, Kembrel offers help from their personal stylists. Guys can also sip on a cup of espresso while lounging in its locally-designed and sustainably-built showroom, six days a week.

Addiction Studio
1024 Pine St.
Philadelphia, PA 19107
(267) 6875446
www.addictionstudios.com

Addiction Make-Up Studio & Boutique was created by two graduates of Temple University's Fox School of Business who also attended the Make-Up Designory in Los Angeles. While Addiction Studios hosts make-up parties (complete with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres!) as well as make-up seminars/consultations here, the basis of the shop is consignment. But this is no usual consignment store; it's a budget-conscious fashionista's dream! Located on Antiques Row, Addiction offers the biggest names in fashion in an intimate and friendly setting. And because it's consignment (i.e. gently worn), the merch is all at ridiculously reduced prices. Shop guilt-free for brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo and many more. The one caveat: Because of Addiction's great prices, you'll walk away with so much fantastic designer apparel that your boss may think you're being paid too much!
