THE DEFENSE

Q: Hi Sandy. Welcome to Defend your Ride Philly. What can you share with us about your ride? Where did you purchase it?

A: I bought my car at Sloane Toyota in Glenside, Pennsylvania after a recommendation from a friend who also owns a tC. My salesperson was very nice and since Scions are pure pricing, there's no need to negotiate. It was pretty hassle-free. Overall, it was a pretty nice experience.

Q: What's your car's main use?

A: I usually drive it to and from work and to get me to other places. I love driving my car and she takes me everywhere. Sometimes, I just drive with no place in mind, just to drive. I find it relaxing and refreshing. I would say I spend on average about eight to 10 hours per week in it. It depends on where I am going.

Q: What's the craziest place you've driven to?

A: The craziest place I ever went was to Centralia, Pennsylvania. It's an old, abandoned town with a huge underground coal fire that's been burning for years. The movie "Silent Hill" was loosely based on this town. It's quite surreal to stand where there was once a bustling town that's now just empty street grids and no houses. There's still steam rising from the ground. It's by far my favorite road trip.

Q: Sounds spooky. Do you listen to spooky music when you are driving around spooky places?

A: I listen to my iPod. When I am in the car by myself, it's the only time I can really just not think about anything important and just enjoy the ride and the music. It's one of my favorite things actually. I listen to everything. I have had so many different musical influences in my life and my taste in music reflects that. One of my favorite things to do is to dance in the car to my favorite songs.

Q: If your car had a human emotion, what would it be and why?

A: Midoriyama is definitely sassy and likes a challenge. She's a spitfire and a bit aggressive.

Q: How long do you plan on keeping Midoriyama?

A: I have a bunch of friends who own Scions. It was inevitable that I would buy once since they all loved their cars. My good friend Todd recommended the dealer where he got his Scion. I saw my Scion, sat in it and fell in love. I hope she can get to 100,000 miles or more.
