There's nothing better than getting home after a long day, calling up your favorite pizza place and having comfort food delivered to your door. Luigi's Pizza Fresca may not have the fanciest slice in town, but it sure has one of the tastiest. One of the simplest pies on the menu, the margherita, is also one of the best, with fresh mozzarella, basil and a slightly crispy crust. If you'll excuse me, I think I need to go place an order right now...
Pizzeria Stella
420 S 2nd St
Philadelphia, PA 19147
(215) 320-8000
www.pizzeriastella.net
It's hard to walk a block in the city without running into a Stephen Starr restaurant, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Pizzeria Stella is a relative newcomer to his cuisine collection, and the pies coming out of here are a thing of beauty. A wood-fired oven provides a healthy char on a wide variety of pizzas, ranging from the traditional margherita to the unique tartufo, which is topped with black truffle, fontina and egg. You may be paying a little more, as these medium sized pies range from $10 to $17, but you'll be getting true bang for your buck.
Tacconelli's Pizza

Philadelphia, PA 19134
(215) 425-4983
www.tacconellispizzeria.com
The only bad words you'll find about Tacconelli's Pizza are the people cursing how good it is. When heading to this BYOB, you may also want to CAFD, call ahead for dough. There may be a slight wait in this small space, but time will stand still once you get to take a bite of their fantastic slices. Just don't bring plastic, because Tacconelli's keeps it old school and accepts cash only.
