Week 3: Jacksonville Jaguars At Indianapolis Colts

It’s been a rough start for Blaine Gabbert. He couldn’t get anything going against the physical Houston Texans and was 7-of-19 before he was pulled and replaced by Chad Henne. Gabbert has toe and hamstring difficulties and his status may be in doubt for this game.	Quarterback	Luck played well in getting his first victory against the Vikings. He should be getting better throughout the season as he gets more used to NFL competition. He is an accurate thrower with a strong arm and he understands how to read defenses.
The Jaguars are going to try to attack the Colts with a large dose of Maurice Jones-Drew. He is one of the most versatile running backs in the league and he has the power to run over tacklers and the agility to cause havoc in the passing game.	Offense	Donald Brown is not a big-name running back, but he is an effective runner who can take advantage of the defense’s tendency to concentrate on luck. Reggie Wayne is a solid veteran receiver, but Donnie Avery may be even more dangerous at this point.
The Jaguars’ strength is their ability to play defense with speed and aggressiveness. The Jags were one of the most improved defensive teams in the league last year. Linebackers Russell Allen and Paul Posluszny are two of Jacksonville’s best tacklers.	Defense	The Colts are adapting to new head coach Chuck Pagano’s hybrid 3-4 defense. While the Colts are not the most talented defense and the unit makes mistakes, they are playing with energy and excitement.
The Jaguars are a pretty decent team in terms of punt and kickoff coverage. Bryan Anger is a solid punter who averaged 52.2 yards against the Texans.	Special Teams	Don’t even begin to write off Adam Vinatieri, who connected on a 53-yard field goal in the final seconds to give the Colts the win over the Vikings. Punter Pat McAfee had his second straight brilliant game.

The Colts got the first win of the Andrew Luck era by edging the Vikings. While head coach Chuck Pagano played it conservatively in the fourth quarter, the Colts may be much better off by letting Luck continue to throw and develop in the fourth quarter. This is another winnable game for the new-look Colts
