Five Atlantic City hotels that allegedly were not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act have reached settlements with federal officials.
The Atlantic Club Casino Hotel in Atlantic City says it will close on January 13th, reducing the number of casinos in the struggling gambling resort to eleven.
Hundreds were remembering the 10th anniversary of a tragedy at the South Jersey shore in which construction workers were killed while building a new parking garage at the Tropicana Casino.
Six people were temporarily trapped in a Tropicana Casino elevator when it malfunctioned around 3:45 a.m. Saturday morning, according to Atlantic City police.
“Tropicana management has decided to intimidate the workers and scare them from exercising their union rights,” a union leader says.
Atlantic City’s casinos took in 12.3 percent less from gamblers in October than they did a year ago.
