A 2023 report by the Pennsylvania State Transportation Advisory Committee found that speed cameras on Roosevelt Boulevard in Philadelphia have been successful in slowing down reckless drivers.
The Speed Camera Program started as a pilot in June 2020 and installed speed cameras near 10 intersections along the Boulevard.
Gov. Josh Shapiro signed a bill Monday that makes the speed cameras permanent. According to the Philadelphia Parking Authority, the cameras have reduced speeding along the Boulevard by 90%.
