Temperatures were up Sunday but were expected to slide back down at night. That had road crews working to prevent a big refreeze and officials in Philadelphia asking residents to do their part.
PennDOT spokesman Gene Blaum says they tried to get to work about 48 hours before the winter storm’s predicted arrival.
A storm that dumped several inches of snow on the eastern half of Pennsylvania is expected to clear the region soon and be replaced by sunny skies and a stiff breeze.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says it will deploy the double-lane plows on highways in Montgomery County this year, and the turnpike will use them along the entire east-west line.
