A three-hour public hearing was held in center city Philadelphia on a Pennsylvania state senator’s plan to limit lawsuits aimed at silencing neighborhood civic groups.
Councilman Mark Squilla says the association was hobbled by the cost of being sued twice in 13 months. Even though the cases didn’t go to court, he says, the OCCA faced $10,000 in legal bills.
When Daniel Stein moved to Old City last year, he didn’t think crime was a problem. Until now.
“If you’re going to do that, you might as well put a six-story thing right on City Hall that says, ‘Your Ad Here, Call City Council for Details,’ ” one critic told City Council.
