New Year’s Eve Fireworks
The crew, under show producer Ken Furstoss, has been working feverishly since Sunday, loading and wiring tens of thousands of explosive shells, each in its own mortar.
For the 24th consecutive year, fireworks will herald the arrival of the new year along the Delaware waterfront. A 6pm show will also be offered again this year.
As in past years, the soundtrack to those pyrotechnics will be carried on KYW Newsradio 1060.
More than 4,000 shells were loaded onto barges at the Philadelphia Navy Yard Sunday in preparation for the New Year’s Eve fireworks shows.
Fireworks show producer Ken Furstoss says crews are beginning the three-day job of loading shells for the two shows — which, he says, should go off regardless of rain or snow.
