A Minnesota lawmaker apologized Monday for his tweet about NBA players, which was seen by some as racist.
One thing that could provide a bit of a spark, for perhaps both the fans and some of the players, is the debut of rookie center Nerlens Noel. That spark could be on its way.
Gordon Hayward scored 22 points, Alec Burks added 19 and the Utah Jazz beat Philadelphia 104-92 on Saturday night, sending the 76ers to their 16th consecutive loss.
The player, college, and NBA have suffered greatly in quality of play and players. And for every Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett there has been a conga line of lost causes, teens who toiled in Europe or Asia or worse once their hoop dreams melted into memory.
The Sixers have lost 15 straight games, with 21 to play. There are only two players, that are for sure, solid NBA players. The rest of the roster is made up of guys named Henry Sims and (GASP!) Byron Mullens. So it’s a fair question that many have asked; could the Sixers lose the rest of their games?
It took a few months, but the Sixers are as bad as we all expected them to be. With the second-worst record in the league, and closing in on the worst, the Sixers are last in the NBA in net efficiency, point differential, turnover rate, and more. They’ve lost 15 straight games, and there is no end in sight.
It was minutes before the Sixers eventual loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. I don’t call it an “eventual loss” because it’s the day after the game, and I know it was a loss. Tobias Harris scored a career-high 31 points and the Orlando Magic beat the 76ers for the second time in less than a week, winning 92-81 Sunday night to extend Philadelphia’s losing streak to 14 games.

Thaddeus Young had 19 points for the Sixers, who lost their 12th straight overall and 11th in a row at home.
The Sixers have lost 11 straight games, the most recent of which was to the team with the NBA’s worst record, the Milwaukee Bucks. The team traded two of its starters for a total of three second round picks. Of the players currently on the active roster, there are only two sure-fire NBA players. Still, things seem like they’re right on track.
Michael Carter-Williams has had a very up-and-down first year in Philadelphia, as the rookie point guard of the 76ers.
If there was even an excuse to fall asleep, even while sitting in great seats, at a sporting event, Monday night’s Sixers game would have given you that excuse.
