Schools superintendent Wiliam Hite says the cash-strapped school district is simply exploring ways to expand student health services without spending more money.
“By automating the process, getting it online, we’re really very much attempting to provide much better customer service to our parents,” says Karyn Lynch, the school district’s chief of student services.

The hearing was focused on expanding “community-based schooling,” in which social services that are normally offered in government offices are instead available at neighborhood schools.
One of the first official acts of new school superintendent William Hite, is to create an Office of Student Services.
