A cooking competition by female chefs for the Philadelphia-based “Women Against Abuse” is among the events on tap in the next couple of weeks.
The event was sponsored by Women Against Abuse.
A common response to revelations of domestic violence — and, specifically, the video of Ray Rice assaulting his then-fiancée in an elevator — is, “Why didn’t she leave him?”
City officials, as well as those who work to serve those who face this heartbreaking situation, gathered at LOVE Park Tuesday afternoon.
“While this new safe haven is a huge step toward addressing the safety needs of survivors, our work as a community is far from over,” said Jeannine Lisitski, executive director of Women Against Abuse.
Eloise Nimoityn is donating 100 stuffed animals and copies of the children’s book “Pat The Bunny” to the organization “Women Against Abuse.”
