Holocaust Remembrance Day
This year’s ceremony marked 70 years since the liberation of some concentration camps and the end of World War II.
During an event organized by the Pennsylvania Jewish Coalition, six holocaust survivors or family members of survivors took part, one by one, in lighting electronic candles to remember the millions who lost their lives as the result of Nazi atrocities.
Israel has begun ceremonies for Monday’s Holocaust Remembrance Day. In Philadelphia, hundreds gathered Sunday at the Holocaust Memorial statue to mark the occasion locally.
Hundreds of people gathered on the Ben Franklin Parkway Sunday to commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Rabbi Meryl Crean says the ceremony, 1:30 this afternoon, free and open to anyone, will include remarks by the last man to have been a Bar Mitzvah using that Torah.
