The nation’s presidential and vice presidential flags are all embroidered by hand, and only in Philadelphia.

The Defense Logistics Agency, based in Northeast Philadelphia, makes all the arrangements to get a Thanksgiving feast into Afghanistan in time for the troops to enjoy a taste of home on the holiday.

Local Military Personnel Begin Furloughs This Week

For the next three months, they’ll be furloughed one day a week, as part of the automatic federal budget cuts known as “the sequester.”

From Philadelphia With Love: US Soldiers Get a Super Bowl ‘Care Package’

The US Defense Logistics Agency, based in Philadelphia, has sent thousands of pounds of food to troops in Afghanistan so they can watch the game and enjoy some munchies from home.
