The code blue is in effect from 6pm each evening until 7am the following morning.
Officials in several area counties have declared Code Blue advisories in advance of the frigid weather.
The Vineland Office of Emergency Management says the code blue starts at 6pm, when the warming shelter at First Presbyterian Church at 8th and Landis Avenues opens.
A new city ordinance can fine owners up to $500 if their dog is outside during weather that’s 20 degrees or colder.
“To live in conditions like this, it makes it even more difficult,” said Salvation Army Captain Curtis Flora.

The Code Blue will commence at 10 p.m. Thursday, November 20th through 10 a.m. Friday, November 21st.

Camden County will be under a “Code Blue” severe weather advisory beginning on Tuesday evening.
The Code Blue begins on Christmas Eve at 8 p.m. and continues until noon on Saturday, Dec. 28th.
The Code Blue extension has been issued for the county starting at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 18th and running until 8 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19th.
The Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders has extended the Code Blue Cold Weather Emergency through 8 a.m. Friday, December 13th due to a wet forecast and dropping temperatures.
On Tuesday morning, Bucks County activated a Code Blue warning.
