The runaway science fiction epic finished in first place at the box office for a second straight weekend by earning an estimated $61-million in its second weekend of release.
It was a very busy weekend at multiplexes, thanks to one big new movie. As expected, movie audiences were hungry and game for The Hunger Games.
The weekend’s only new mainstream attraction, a comedy about undercover cops based on the eighties TV series, starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, arrested audiences to the tune of $35-million, good for a robust first-place finish on its debut weekend.
