Driver Crashes Into Walgreens Store In New Castle

NEW CASTLE, Del. (CBS) - A driver in New Castle has been transported to the hospital after crashing into a Walgreens store on Friday morning.

It happened at the store on the 1500 block of Beaver Brook Plaza, just before 10 a.m.

According to police, the driver, 65-year-old Joyce Ann Jones was pulling into a parking space when she failed to break and continued forward, striking the front wall of the building.

Employees tell Eyewitness News the accident left a hole in the wall.

Police say Jones and her passenger were taken to a local hospital after suffering minor injuries. They are expected to be OK. Jones was cited for careless driving.

No one inside the store was injured.

The building was deemed unsafe and has closed pending repairs.
