Police: 9 People Shot In North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are searching for two gunmen who opened fire on a large crowd in North Philadelphia, shooting and injuring nine people.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of North 23rd Street near Huntingdon Street in the Strawberry Mansion section of the city.

Detectives say dozens of people were outside, listening to music, when two unknown men suddenly began shooting into the crowd from across the street.

Nine people were struck by the gunfire.

The victims range from their teens to mid-20's. They were taken to Temple and Hahnemann Hospitals.

"Most of the victims were placed in stable condition," said Captain Jamill Taylor. "Two of the victims are in critical condition."

No arrests have been made and there is no word on a motive.

Police are looking for any surveillance video in the neighborhood that may have captured the shooting.
