Consumers Expected To Spend More Than Ever For Mother's Day

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Mother's Day is this Sunday, and according to a new survey, people plan to spend more money this year than ever before.

The National Retail Federation says shoppers are expected to spend on average $186.

That's about $14 more than last year.

The most popular gift for mom is flowers, but more money will go to jewelry – about $5 billion.

In all, Americans are expected to spend $23.6 billion. That is the highest it's been in the survey's 14 year history.
