Citizens Bank Employees Pack Needed Care Packages For Local Residents

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- On Thursday Citizens Bank employees gave some special Christmas care packages to dozens of families in need.

Families at the People's Emergency Center, a Philadelphia non-profit that offers affordable housing units, job training, parenting and early childhood education got their stockings stuffed with bath and body products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, socks, gift cards and of course some toys.

"There's 53 families here in need. There's nobody coming to bring them presents, well that's the opportunity for citizens bank to step up," said Dan Fitzpatrick with Citizens Bank.

He said his colleagues love participating in this event each year.

"We want to be good financial professionals, but it starts with being really good people that are truly good citizens looking out for your neighbor."

Mike Verrill with People's Emergency Center said seeing the gratitude shown by the families always lets him know that their work is worth it.

"The feedback has been tremendous," Verrill said. "The smiles that we create, not only for the adults who need certain toiletries and household items, but for the kids receiving toys they wouldn't necessarily receive otherwise."
