24 Years Ago: Dr. Dre Released 'The Chronic'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- December 15th, 1992. Dr. Dre released his debut studio album, The Chronic

In June of 1992, Dr. Dre's The Chronic was his first release as a signee of Death Row Records. Dre left Ice Cube and Eazy-E at N.W.A prior to signing with Death Row Records. Dre dissed Ice Cube and Eazy-E on one of the album's singles, and Snoop Dogg was also featured on the album.

The Chronic is largely credited for making the rap style acceptable in the mainstream media. Kanye West has been quoted calling The Chronic the "benchmark you measure your album against."
