Report: Rex Tillerson To Be Named Donald Trump's Secretary Of State

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- On Monday night, President-elect Donald Trump announced that he will be naming his secretary of state on Tuesday. He did so utilizing his Twitter account.

CBS News previously reported that Rex Tillerson, the CEO, president and chairman of Exxon Mobil Corp., was the leading candidate to serve as Trump's secretary of state. Tillerson and Trump met on Saturday, December 10 at Trump Tower.

On Monday night, CBS News reported that Tillerson would indeed be selection.

Other names linked to the job were former presidential candidate Mitt Romney and former New York City mayor Rudy Guiliani. Romney posted about the process of being considered on Facebook. "It was an honor to have been considered for Secretary of State of our great country," Romney wrote.

Trump said that the announcement will be made on Tuesday morning.
