New Jersey Man Accused Of Stealing Thousands From Youth Football League

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Gloucester County man stands accused of ripping off a youth football league to the tune of over $56,000 over a two-year period.
49-year-old Michael DiFlorio of Williamstown was the treasurer for the South Jersey Elite Invitational Youth Football League.
He was authorized to write checks, but not to get his own debit card for the league account.
New Jersey Attorney General Christopher Porrino says DiFlorio used both to funnel the money to himself and a friend.
"We first learned of that because the defendant bounced a check and that resulted in an inquiry and a review of bank records and a referral to our office," said Porrino.
A grand jury handed up a charge of third degree theft by deception, punishable by three to five years in prison, and a fine if convicted.
A Woodbury lawyer said to represent DiFlorio indicated he had not yet been formally retained in the case.
