Atlantic City Gaming Revenue Down Slightly In October
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ. (CBS) -- Newly released revenue numbers show Atlantic City's casino industry down a little bit in the month of October.
Compared to last year, gaming revenues dropped .7%. A little more than a million dollars all told.
The Taj Mahal closed on October 10. Take them out, and they're in the green.
"You're up 5.9% for the month, which is a good number," New Jersey Casino Control Commission chairman Matt Levinson told KYW Newsradio. "You have a majority of the casinos up."
The largest percentage winner for the month is Golden Nugget, which saw its total gaming win increase 16.7%. Two of the seven casinos still open were down, Resorts and Bally's AC, both dropping about 3% on the month.
Levinson believes the industry has withstood a myriad of bad press in recent months, topped by the takeover of Atlantic City's government by the state.
