Philadelphia Man Convicted Of Killing Ex-Girlfriend's Father Is Sentenced

MONTGOMERY COUNTY (CBS) -- A Philadelphia man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for shooting and killing the father of his ex-girlfriend inside a Huntingdon Valley home last fall.

21-year-old Naadir Abdul Ali was sentenced to life in prison plus an additional 10-20 years. Abdul-Ali was convicted by a jury in July on second degree murder and 14 other counts, for the home invasion and shooting death of 53-year-old Kevin Brown in his Lower Moreland home last fall.

Prosecutor Tom McGoldrick said Brown tried to protect his family, after Abdul-Ali and other men kicked in the backdoor and stormed upstairs in the middle of the night. Brown was shot in the throat while his wife escaped out a window. McGoldrick calls Brown a hero, and Adbul-Ali a paranoid and vengeful man.

Brown's wife, Cassandra Brock told the court she is left without her most precious friend, and their children are left without their provider and protector, with no chance to say goodbye.

Abdul Ali said he is sorry for the family's loss, but claims he didn't kill anybody.
