Netflix Comes To Comcast Cable Box

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Comcast today is switching on a feature that long seemed unthinkable: Netflix in the cable box.

Everything on Netflix is now a remote-button press (or voice command) away for Comcast subscribers who have the Internet-connected DVR called X1:

"We have 85,000 shows on demand on Comcast X1, plus all of what Netflix offers," Comcast boss Brian Roberts said at a Goldman Sachs conference in September. "We've integrated them all together in the on-demand section."

Search for 'The Walking Dead' -- watch the latest episodes offered by Comcast or past seasons from Netflix, all from the same on-screen program guide.

Not a Netflix subscriber? Sign up through your TV screen, and it'll be added to your Comcast bill.

The companies for years traded barbs over signal quality and pricing, but Roberts says that's in the past. In the future: perhaps collaboration with other subscription video providers:

"Our organization made a conscious decision that we're going to aggregate other people's content, some of which we sell directly and some of which we don't. And we've got to be the best for our customers as possible."
