Montco Man Found Guilty In Deadly Shooting Inside Church

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - The Lansdale man charged with fatally shooting a man inside a Montgomery Township church has been found guilty of Voluntary Manslaughter and Reckless Endangerment of Another Person.

46-year-old Mark Storms claims he shot and killed 27-year old Robert Braxton out of fear of death or serious bodily injury.

But prosecutors say Storms had his gun out and the safety off when he approached Robert Braxton inside the Keystone Fellowship church in April.

Braxton had been acting out during services, cursing and telling people to stay away from him. Ushers tried to calm him, but prosecutors say that only angered him more. Ushers decided to leave him alone and call police.

That's when Storms approached Braxton, showing him the gun along with an official-looking badge that said "concealed weapon permit."

Braxton punched Storms in the face and moved towards him. Storms shot him in the chest and shoulder. Braxton died from the wounds.

Storms faces a maximum 11-22 years in prison.
