Report: Eagles Willing To Give 5th Rounder For Torrey Smith; 49ers Want More

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Eagles and 49ers are reportedly discussing a deal involving wide receiver Torrey Smith, just minutes before the November 1st (4 p.m. E.T.) deadline.

According to ESPN's Ed Werder, the Eagles are willing to give up a 5th-round pick for Smith, but the 49ers want a third.

15 minutes before the trade deadline, Smith said he'd be "shocked" if he was traded.

"Trying to get Carson Wentz a receiver who can stretch the field," Werder said on Tuesday afternoon. "I think head coach Doug Pederson would rather draft and develop and receiver and running back to go with Carson Wentz."

Smith, 27, has just 13 catches for 199 yards and two touchdowns playing under Chip Kelly this season. Before joining the 49ers in 2015, Smith — a 2011 second round pick out of Maryland — played four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, winning a Super Bowl in 2012. In 2013, Smith caught a career-best 65 balls for 1,128 yards and four touchdowns.

Smith (6'0″, 205), who runs a 4.43 40-yard dash, would instantly become the Eagles' most dynamic pass catcher. Smith is currently in the second year of a lucrative five-year contract worth $40 million ($22 million guaranteed).
