Penn Looks To Stay Hot Saturday Against Brown

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The University of Pennsylvania Quakers are surging as they prepare to host Ivy League foe Brown on Saturday afternoon for Homecoming.

Penn improved to 4-2 overall (3-0 Ivy) this past Friday night with a dominant 42-7 win up in New Haven, Connecticut against Yale. It was the fourth straight victory for the Quakers.

"I think, collectively, that might have been our best game from start to finish, in all aspects," Penn head coach Ray Priore tells KYW Newsradio.

Listen to the entire interview with Penn's Ray Priore:

Penn had several standout performances against the Bulldogs. Senior quarterback Alek Torgersen completed 16 of 23 passes for 229 yards and four touchdowns with nary an interception. Junior running back Tre Solomon logged his fourth straight 100-yard game, finishing with 120 yards rushing and a touchdown on 15 carries. Junior wide receiver Justin Watson caught three of Torgersen's touchdown throws, finishing with 10 catches for 166 yards.

"(Watson's a) real special talent and we have a lot of different weapons on offense," Priore says. "You have (sophomore receiver) Christian Pearson, who had a real good game two weeks ago, they lean coverage to him or trying to defend Tre Solomon inside the box left Justin open this week. So we're doing a great job each week, finding the open person, the person to make the plays and they are executing."

Watson's big game earned him Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Brown will bring a 2-4 record (1-2 Ivy) to Franklin Field. Last week, the Bears beat Cornell, 28-21, in double overtime.

"They're running the ball real, real efficiently," Priore says. "Taking advantage of short fields and moving the ball there. On defense, they are pretty stout, they force you to beat them not running the football, they want you to pass the ball to beat them."

Brown got a big performance from senior wide receiver Alex Jette against Cornell. He had nine catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned a punt 79 yards for another score and that earned him Ivy league Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Last season these teams met up in Providence, Rhode Island with Penn winning 48-28. The Quakers led that game 35-7 at the half and coasted to the finish line.

Saturday's game at Franklin Field will start at 1:00pm.
