NJ Company Tops List Of PA Turnpike Scofflaws With $678,483 In Unsettled Violations

HARRISBURG (CBS) -- In an effort to generate support for legislation that would allow PennDOT to suspend the registrations of chronic violators, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has released a list of its top two dozen commercial toll scofflaws.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission says the top 24 commercial violators have racked up more than one and a half million dollars in unpaid tolls and fees between them… but perhaps most shocking of all is that one New Jersey company accounts for almost half of that total.

The Commission says Green Coast Logistics LLC of South Plainfield owes more than $678,000 dollars for more than 76-hundred unsettled violation notices.

Turnpike spokesman Carl DeFebo says the Commission needs the tools to go after the biggest offenders…

"It's not going after those one time offenders… you have to be going out of your way to avoid those violation notices."

All of the companies on the Pennsylvania Turnpike's list of the top two dozen violators owe at least $20,000.
