Eric Trump Defends Father’s Debate Performance

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Eric Trump, the son of the Republican nominee for President, Donald Trump, defended his father’s performance in the first presidential debate with Hillary Clinton and chided him for continuing his Twitter tirade against Alicia Machado, a former Miss Universe.

Trump, during an interview with Chris Stigall on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, said the first debate humanized his dad with voters.

“The difference between the two candidates is she goes and she memorizes a ton of lines like a typical politician and my father speaks like a person, like a non-politician. I was sitting front row of that debate and I was incredibly proud of him. There were a ton of times where he could have taken the low road, where she’s talking about sexism and this and that and it would’ve been very, very easy for him to take the low road and he chose not to do it. I was proud of him. If he came out like bull in a chine store, the liberal media and the mainstream media would’ve said Trump’s a bully. Sometimes it’s hard to win in these things. Sometimes it’s really, really hard. You can’t be right either way, but I was proud of him, sitting there. I do think he took the high road. I thought he was articulate.”

He did admit that there are times Trump needs to take a break from social media after tweeting angrily about Machado in the middle of the night last week.

“You have to give him a hard time, right? That’s what kids do and he gives us a hard time when we step out of line. That’s what family does. I love the man tremendously. He’s one of my best friends in the world…My father is a workaholic. The one thing I can promise you about Washington DC is that Washington DC will get back to work. No matter what he’s ever done in his life, he works at it. That’s just the man that he is. There’s something redeeming about seeing that he’s up at three o’clock in the morning, will actually take that call when it comes in, unlike Hillary, who always seems to be nowhere to be found.”

Trump also fired some shots at Clinton’s actions while serving as Secretary of State and calling the Clinton Foundation corrupt.

“Hillary’s never created a single job. Quite the contrary, the Clinton Foundation is one of the great Ponzi schemes in America history. Bill Clinton came out of the White House claiming they were dead broke and today they’re worth a quarter of a billion dollars. When she was at the State Department, Hillary Clinton lost $6 billion. There’s $6 billion that’s still unaccounted for at the State Department. They don’t know where the money went. It just disappeared. She was Secretary of State and she lost $6 billion. Then she talks about financial irresponsibility. It’s garbage. It’s garbage and Americans deserve better.”

Hillary addressed the issues. Trump’s only issue is his ego!

During our introduction to the Trump families, there was a part of me that thought maybe Trump wasn’t as bad as I though he was. His kids seemed grounded. By now, those three kids not to mention the missing Tiffany, are wearing thin. Moderate voters would have been better served had they stayed home and ran the business.
