PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The Trump campaign has opened an office in Philadelphia, just five weeks before the election.
Lara Trump, Trump’s daughter in law was in town to open the new headquarters.
“We’re going to do it Nov. 8. We feel really good,” she said.
Lara Trump has two major obstacles with this new office: overwhelmingly Democratic Philadelphia and women.
“We heard that women don’t vote for Donald Trump and look at all of us.”
It’s a tough time to get that message out, with the dust still up from the candidate’s comments about a former Miss Universe, and a local story about him using a vulgar term for women on a former Inquirer reporter, but Trump has dismissed both.
“It’s a clear agenda on the side of the left to try to keep people’s mind off the great things he really does want to do for this country.”
The office is Trump’s first in Philadelphia and 12th in Pennsylvania, which both campaigns consider crucial. The Clinton campaign has seven offices in Philadelphia, 55 sate wide.
The attention on Philadelphia comes amid local Republican defections to Clinton. Committeewoman Elissa Prichep spoke to reporters by phone on Friday.
“I love my country and I love my party and I don’t think Donald Trump represents the best interests of either.”
The Trump campaign said their candidate is winning over Democrats too.
