West Chester Visits Kutztown Saturday In PSAC Action

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Division II West Chester University will look to make it two straight wins on Saturday as the Golden Rams visit Kutztown University.

2-2 West Chester opened it's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division schedule last Saturday with an emphatic 37-7 home win over Lock Haven.

"We didn't turn the ball over which was really big for us," West Chester head coach Bill Zwaan tells KYW Newsradio. "Our special teams played a lot better. Still have a problem with penalties, we have to continue to work on that and solve that. But, if we don't turn the ball over, don't put the defense in tough positions, our defense played really well, which they had been doing, but they were just in bad field position situations a lot. So all those were positives."

Listen to the entire interview with West Chester head coach Bill Zwaan:

Junior quarterback Andrew Derr threw for 294 yards and three touchdowns in the win against Lock Haven, but the most significant number for Zwaan was the zero in the interception column.

"That's what we're working on with Andrew," Zwaan says. "He's made some really big plays for us and put some points on the board for us and gotten us back into games where we were down. But he was throwing interceptions that were hurting us and he took care of that Saturday. He's got to keep taking care of the football for us."

Kutztown is coached by former Delaware Valley University head man Jim Clements. The Golden Bears lost their first three games of the season before beating up Millersville last week, 41-13.

"This is a much better football team than their record shows," Zwaan says. "We're playing them up there at 6:00 at night, so they'll have a good crowd. So we've got to be ready."

Kutztown has already used three quarterbacks this season. Monsignor Bonner product and redshirt freshman Collin DiGalbo got his first start last week in the win over Millersville, throwing for 250 yards and a touchdown while also running for a score.

Last year these two teams met in West Chester with the Golden Rams winning, 44-14.

Saturday's game will kick-off at 6:00pm.
