NJ Officials Announce Traffic Altering Lane Changes On I-295 In Camden County

BELLMAWR, N.J. (CBS) -- New Jersey official made a traffic announcement on Friday that will greatly impact weekend travel in Camden County.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation will be shifting lanes on I-295 northbound beginning on Saturday morning. "Residents should be aware that in addition to Saturday's traffic pattern changes, this construction will impact their commute and their communities for several years," said Freeholder Shin Angulo.

He added that when the project is done, it is expected to alleviate a lot of the traffic congestion that is seen on a daily basis on I-295.

Starting at 8:00 a.m. on October 1, NJDOT will shift lanes near mile post 27.6 (Bell Road) to make a work zone. There will be two lanes on the left side and one lane on the right side of the work zone.

Drivers on I-295 northbound will be directed to keep to the left and those using Exit 28 to Route 168 will take the right lane.

The split will allow for work to take place in the middle. The new traffic pattern is expected to last for about three weeks.
