Eagles Fans Hope Team Can Cook Up Win Against Steelers

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers meet in a Keystone State showdown at Lincoln Financial Field. It's a late afternoon kickoff, but Eagles fans were trying to get their party started bright and early.

Even before the parking lots officially opened, several cars and trucks were parked outside the gates.

This is a big matchup between the Eagles and Steelers, and many fans were chomping at the bit to kick off their tailgate.

"Out of the 70,000 fans, I'm the first one here for every game," said Eric from Media, Delaware County.

Eric arrived at 10 p.m. on Saturday. He actually tailgated at the Temple game, went home to reload and then parked near the Linc overnight. With him was a huge smoker with a 60 pound pig inside.

"I sleep in the truck and about every hour I get up, stoke the coals, and keep the pig cooking," he said. "I take a little nap for an hour and get back up. Three seasons in now, I'm kind of used to it."

Also on the menu...breakfast.

"We'll do some smoked scrapple and sausages today," Eric said. "Sometimes we do scrapple mac and cheese."

It's a long morning and afternoon until the 4:25 p.m. kickoff so plenty of food is needed.

"Fried chicken, barbecue chicken, sausage, burgers," said Darnell from Swedesboro, Gloucester County.

Both the Eagles and the Steelers are 2-0 on the young season, but fans know this game will be a big test for the Birds.

"A big statement to the rest of the NFL that they're for real this year," said Brian from Allentown, Pennsylvania.

"This game will tell how tough our team is," said Cheryl from Philadelphia.
