Love Park Enters New Phase Of Renovations

CENTER CITY (CBS) — Love Park enters the second phase of its multi-million dollar renovation project, but that’s because Love Park is getting a 16 million dollar face lift.

On Tuesday officials announced the start of renovations on the ‘flying saucer’ welcome center.

Carmen Ferrigno with Saint-Gobain, the company helping to restore the welcome center says they hope it will enhance the city in a new light.

“It’s stunning, it basically brings us back to the original vision that they had which was this completely transparent view of the surrounding city and its literally the heart of the city, so the 360 views are dramatic.”

He says visitors to the park will be pleasantly surprised.

“You’re going to feel like you’re standing in a giant window on the rest of the world and you’re going to see the entire city revolve around you.”

During the announcement of the new phase, officials unveiled an interactive rendering of the park right across the street at the William Penn Plaza that people can take pictures with.
