New Look Eagles Soar, Much To Delight Of Fans

By Justin Udo, Trang Do

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Eagles won their first game of the season with rookie quarterback Carson Wentz at the helm.

All eyes were on rookie quarterback Carson Wentz in his NFL debut and he did not disappoint.

"It's a new era," said Roger Lind of Wayne. "Era of the Wentz. Wentz is the era. The era of Wentz."

Fans in Center City had nothing but good things to say about the young field general.

For a town that's known for being brutal on its teams and athletes, Eagle's faithful seemed anything but when talking with KYW Newsradio about Wentz…

"I thought Wentz looked really good, he looked really composed. He was throwing the ball accurate with good touch."

"He did an awesome job. He came through. Good start to the season."

"Wentz looked very sharp, very composed. He had a zip on his ball and if he keeps doing that we're good."

"I did not see that coming, I was pretty impressed. I was skeptical but I was impressed."

"I think they set him up with a simple offense that he could excel in and he took advantage of some big situations."

"He definitely impressed me a lot. I didn't see that coming.

The rest of the game did not disappoint, with the birds flying high over the Browns, 29-10.

"I've been waiting a long, long time and I hope it happens before I'm 60. I'm 54. I need a Super Bowl, baby! E-A-G-L-E-S, Eagles!" said Mark Bowker of Delaware County.

But some fans say although they were impressed, they are taking this win with a grain of salt:

"I don't think they're a 10-6 team quite yet, but six or seven wins."

It was also Doug Pederson's debut as head coach. Fans gave Andy Reid's protege high marks.

"It was good to see what Pederson was going to do," said Doris Kerr of Kennett Square. "It was very Andy Reid-esque, but they pulled it together there was some good time management, running of the ball."

Next week the Birds play the bears in Chicago. Fans say they can't wait to get another look at Wentz and these new look Eagles.
