By Bill Wine
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's still breathing.
Don't Breathe, that is, the horror thriller that debuted in first place last weekend and finished on top again this weekend, earning an estimated $16 million.
The runner-up also remained the same, as Suicide Squad placed second again with a take of $10 million, pushing its cumulative total close to the $300 million mark.
Third place was claimed by the holdover, Pete's Dragon, with a modest take of $6 million.
In fourth place was the animated Kubo and the Two Strings, also with $6 million.
The only new offering to crack the top ten was the drama, The Light Between Oceans, with Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander. It earned $5 million, good for sixth place.
Overall, industry-wide totals were modest from top to bottom, as expected on Labor Day Weekend.
