Marine Workers Down Shore In Full Throttle Safety Mode

SOMERS POINT, N.J. (CBS) - South Jersey utility companies and businesses have been getting ready for Hermine all week.

Also putting in extra work, marine service workers down the shore.

It's been pretty busy lately, for example, at MarineMax in Somers Point.

"Service team prepping, pulling boats and storing them at our other location in Mays Landing to get them out of harms way of the storm," explains Michael Marra who works there.

He says they've been taking much more boats out of the water than they usually do this time of year:

"Being Labor Day and the season is coming to an end in around six weeks, some boats will stay out. Other boats we'll put back in when the storm goes through."

As for the boats staying in the water during the storm...

"We double lined all the boats and doubled up everything on the docks so everything should be safe."

For anybody keeping their boat docked during Hermine, Marra has this advice:

"Just keep an eye on it, keep an eye on the tide, keep an eye on your dock and make sure you put two lines on each cleat."

In other words, Marra says, be extra cautious this holiday weekend to make sure the boats in the marinas....stay there.
