Shooting Hoops, Music Video For Peace In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A local musician teamed up with a youth non-profit group Saturday in North Philadelphia to shoot a music video and documentary about people are affected by gun violence.

The Express Urself Crisis Response Center organizes basketball games in high-crime areas in Philadelphia. Terry Starks is director and says he pulled two rival groups together in a park at 11th & Cumberland Streets:

"They playing together for peace in the neighborhood."

And it was also the stage for a music video and documentary. A West Philadelphia rapper named Arsin is creating the films to put focus on the people affected by violence every day.

"One of my goals is to make changes in the community," he says. "I deal with a lot of violence myself."

He hopes it can also be an example to children:

"Kids seeing adults, and their older brothers and sisters come together to play basketball, come together and use music to tell their stories."

Starks says Arsin is a role model for kids in the neighborhood:

"People need to hear positive music instead of music that is killing the communities.

So who does Arsin hope this reaches?

"I would hope politicians would see it, the people that would make some actual changes."
