76ers Projected To Finish As Worst Team In East, Again

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia 76ers, with just 10 wins, were the worst team in the NBA last season.

But now with the additions of Joel Embiid, Dario Saric, Ben Simmons, Sergio Rodriguez, Jerryd Bayless, and Gerald Henderson excitement surrounding the Sixers is sky high. Well, ESPN's real plus-minus projections (RPM) says not so fast.

According to the RPM projections via ESPN Insider, the Sixers are projected to be the worst team in the eastern conference again, and second worst team in the NBA behind the Los Angeles Lakers.

That's the bad news.

The good news is their projected win total is 24.5, a respectable jump in wins from last season. That overall projection does leave room for upsides due to the underwhelming individual RPM totals for Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, at minus-1.9 and minus-1.4 respectively.

With a plethora of big men on their roster, the Sixers' 2016-17 roster is far from set in stone. A trade of Nerlens Noel or Jahlil Okafor could shake up the projections for the upcoming season, but ultimately, it's looking like another season of patience for Sixers fans.
