Police Investigating Home Invasion Of 81-Year-Old Man In Delaware

WILMINGTON, De. (CBS) -- Authorities in Wilmington are investigating a home invasion that took place in the Edenridge community.

Police say that on Friday, around 12:30 p.m., New Castle County Police were on the scene on the 700 block of Hertford Road. Officers reached out to the 81-year-old victim who stated that a man knocked on his front door around 12:20 p.m.

Officials say the victim answered the door and walked away to retrieve something from inside. They say that is when the suspect forced entry into the home and a physical altercation with the victim followed.

Police say the victim sustained an injury. Officials say the suspect stole several items from the home and fled the scene in a red two-door car. Authorities say the victim has a disabled adult son who lives in the home. He was not harmed.

The victim received emergency treatment on the scene. Anyone with information is asked to contact the New Castle County Police at 302-573-2800.
