Arrest Made In Brutal Attack On Delivery Driver In SW Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police say a teenager is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, following a brutal attack on a food delivery driver in Southwest Philadelphia.

Authorities say the victim was kidnapped and shot in the head in June.

Police say the 34-year-old victim was making a food delivery on the 5700 block of Beaumont Street when he was approached by two males.

The first suspect displayed a black handgun and forced the victim into his vehicle.

Police say the suspects drove the victim to an unknown location and demanded money.

They then allegedly ordered the victim out of the vehicle, and ordered him to get on his knees.

Police say the victim then heard a loud pop and felt something hit the back of his head.

The victim ran to the 1600 block of S. 59th Street where he was located by responding officers.

Authorities say the victim's wallet, some cash, and cell phone were taken during the robbery.

On August 12, investigators received information that one of the suspects, identified by police as 17-year-old Donovan Daniels, was in the area of Bridge Street and Torresdale Avenue.

After a brief pursuit, police apprehended Daniels without incident.

Police say Daniels is charged with attempted murder, robbery, kidnapping, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault and other related offenses.

His bail has been set at $2,000,000. Police say he is being charged as an adult.

Authorities continue to search for the second suspect wanted in the incident.
