Man Wins New Trial In Fatal House Fire That Killed Brother

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — An appellate court has overturned the conviction of a Trenton man accused of setting a house fire that killed his brother and severely injured the victim's girlfriend.

Tormu Prall received a life sentence after he was convicted on murder and arson charges stemming from the 2007 fire.

But in a ruling issued Friday, the appellate panel ordered that he receive a new trail. They cited improperly admitted trial testimony and noted that police found no physical evidence linking Prall to the crime.

It's not clear if the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office will challenge the appellate court's ruling.

The 44-year-old Prall will continue to serve a 10-year state prison sentence for an unrelated 2006 case in which he was convicted of aggravated assault and other counts for throwing a brick through a window at a girlfriend's home.
