RGIII To Start Week 1 Vs. Eagles

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Robert Griffin III, coming to a theater near you!

The Cleveland Browns officially named RG3 as their starting quarterback on Monday.

Griffin will make his first regular season NFL start since December 28th, 2014 on Sunday, September 11th in Philadelphia against the Eagles, barring injury.

"It's time. Robert has earned the right to be named the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns," Browns coach Hue Jackson said. "Since he was signed back in March, Robert has made it clear through his actions that he is willing to do everything that has been asked of him to earn this role."

Griffin, 26, is entering his fifth NFL season. He was originally selected second overall in 2012 by Washington.
