Former Reagan WH Staffer: 'Donald Trump, You Are No Ronald Reagan'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Doug Elmets was unlike most of the speakers at the Democratic National Convention.

Why? Because, he is a Republican. Not WAS a Republican. He IS a Republican.

Elmets took the stage as someone who worked in the Reagan White House and who is attempting to get a statue of the former Republican president built in California. He urged voters to not vote with his party, and instead vote for Hillary Clinton.

Elmets said that it would be the first time, in nearly 40 years, that he will not vote for a Republican.

"I'm here tonight to say, I knew Ronald Reagan," Elmets said. "Donald Trump, you are no Ronald Reagan."

Elmets added that "President Reagan famously said, tear down this wall. Trump says build the wall because that will make American great again."

He went on to describe the Republican nominee for the White House as a "petulant, dangerously unbalanced reality star."
