Gabrielle Giffords Addresses DNC: 'Strong Women Get Things Done'
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was on hand for the third day of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. She discussed gun violence in the United States after being shot in 2011.
"Hello fellow Democrats," Giffords said as she took the podium. "We have important work ahead of us. Work that will determine the future of our country."
She asked the crowd, "are you ready," to which they responded "yes," in unison throughout the arena.
Giffords said she learned a powerful lesson while in congress. "Strong women get things done."
She said that Clinton earned her support because she believes a Clinton White House would fight against gun lobbyists.
Giffords summed things up by saying, "speaking is difficult for me, but come January, I want to say these two words: Madame President."
